Whether you’re an avid online shopper or prefer to shop the old school way, Cyber Monday is an event you can’t miss. In preparation for the big day, we’ve put together a few tips to save you some time and energy, and ensure you’re prepared for whatever retail challenges are thrown your way.
Check your favorite shops in advance. Many online retailers will disclose their sales ahead of time in preparation for the holiday shopping events. Normally you can see these announcements on the store’s homepage or in a designated category. Some retailers will even have early sales events accessible only to app users. So, make sure you don’t miss out on any promotions and put a reminder in your calendar to take a quick look at the sites in advance.
Check last year's sales. If you can’t find any information about future sales events on the store’s website, do a quick google search to see what last season’s holiday sales events looked like. Most stores are pretty consistent with the type of promotions they have each year, and you’ll be able to get a general idea of what you can expect to see go on sale.
Plan the shopping to the site. Make use of online marketplaces and department stores. Sites like Amazon, Ebay, Best Buy, Aliexpress, Walmart, and Macys are your friends. Instead of ordering 10 items from 10 different websites, plan for bigger orders and less checkouts.
Compare prices with other retailers. If you’re planning on purchasing items that are sold by multiple retailers, do a quick search to see what site is offering the best deal. Take advantage of price comparison sites like Google Shopping or use our very own search bar to seek out the item you're searching for at the best price. You'll be able to compare the myriad of options that different retailers (that offer Cashback!) are selling.
Prepare your cart. Due to the high level of site traffic the day of, many sites will be slowed down. So, add any items you’re planning to buy to your cart ahead of time. Keep in mind that some stores clear shopping carts periodically, so make use of the favorites or saved items list. Whether you need to decide on size, color, or quantity, or just want to survey some reviews first, make sure you’ve got everything figured out beforehand. That way, on the day of, all you have to do is click "check-out".
